Meet Missy Abben & her 5 Hungry Ponies

As I’ve said in previous posts, I am fortunate that my life and career has taken me to many, wonderful equestrian venues and events and I have met some of the most amazing, remarkable people.    Missy Abben is one of those amazing, remarkable people.

I met Missy several years ago when she came to Iowa to volunteer with a non-profit I was involved with that used horses to make a difference in the lives of at-risk children & teens.    Missy and I had spoken on the phone prior to the event and I knew she had a big heart, I just didn’t know how big….but that became more and more evident the longer we worked together with these kids and our horses.    She shared with me how she had rescued and rehabilitated ponies in her area, how she was working to become licensed to foster adults-in-need, working with children on the Autism Spectrum, working with at-risk children and I’m not even covering half of the things she does.    I am honored, to call this remarkable woman, my friend.

There is an old saying, “Actions speak louder than words”, and Missy’s actions speak volumes.    In a world where there is very often more bad news than, good, I believe Missy’s actions in her blog, “5 Hungry Ponies Looking for a Future” will inspire you and make your heart happy…and that’s one of many reasons,  I asked Missy to become a regular contributor at Horse Family.

Welcome aboard, Missy!
