Greetings! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. It’s been a very hectic Spring! It’s been difficult to find time to do anything but just get by. We’ve all had times like that, I guess it was my turn.

The ponies are doing fabulous! They are truly just learning to be happy, healthy, and very playful foals. Once they were dewormed they started to gain weight and blossom. All four colts have been gelded, a day I was dreading since the day I got them. It really went as good as can be. Deuce in true fashion took twice as long to heal as the others but all recovered quickly and without issue. Their personalities are in full swing. When they arrived they all acted exactly the same and they only had one thing on their mind and that was to survive. It has been fun to see their personalities come to the surface. Fyra, the only filly, was in my pocket within the first week. She is the sweetest little thing you can imagine, and what a beautiful face emerging from the winter baby fur that looks like something you would find on sheep, not a horse. About a month ago I had to catch Tre and put a halter on him. He was upset and very anxious and Fyra came up to him and stood on the other side and gently pressed her body against his. He immediately settled down and she remained at his side until I was finished. I have only seen a horse do that one other time, I was so impressed with her intuitive reaction to help her best buddy, and at such a young age. I believe she will be an amazing equine. Tre is Fyra’s little side kick, by default he is learning to enjoy human interaction as well. He is the smallest of them all, I believe him to be a couple months younger than the others. He is incredibly shy but is the second in the group to come to me. Ace is very curious and playful. Once Deuce recovered from parasites, he made the most dramatic change in his personality. He went from quiet and secluded to top dog. Lastly, Cinco is by far the most fearful, however his defenses are lower everyday. The other day I was in the pasture fixing fence and I felt like the pied piper, only I had 5 ponies following me , all single file. At one point I got on my knees to fix the lowest strand and I could feel 5 little noses on my back.

My intentions were to halter break them more than a month ago, but with everything going on here, I just couldn’t find the time. In retrospect, I am pretty pleased that I didn’t. I have learned to communicate with them without touching them at all. I bring them in every day and don’t use a halter or lead rope, I simply use body language to move them. What an awesome experience!
